For items purchased through retro51.com, we kindly ask that you initiate the return process within 10 days of the delivery date.
Retro51 offers Checkout+ to customers to provide free return shipping. Customers that take advantage of our Checkout+ option will receive a prepaid label through our portal for any returns request. Customers who opt out are responsible for the costs of return shipping. Labels should be purchased through our customer portal.
If your return is due to a manufacturing product defect, we will issue a return label at no additional cost to you, as long as the return is initiated within the 10 days window.
We carefully review all return requests on a case-by-case basis. We hold the right to decline refunds if the product has been mishandled, damaged, altered, or is unsuitable for resale. It's important to note that a fountain pen with an inked nib will classify it as used, which may impact its eligibility for a refund.
PERSONALIZED PRODUCTS:
Products that have been personalized cannot be returned. We take great care in personalizing these items to your specifications, and as a result, they cannot be resold or returned.
Be sure to double-check your personalization details before placing your order to ensure accuracy. There is a short window of time after placing an order when your order could be canceled, although we cannot guarantee it. REQUESTING A RETURN
You can start the return process by:

Visiting the Customer Portal.
- We ask you to provide your order information and the reason for the return.
- If the reason is due to a product defect/damage, you can then upload a photo of the product’s condition (optional).

If accepted, you will receive return instructions and a return shipping label.
- Follow the instructions provided in the notification, or refer to the ‘Packaging & Shipping your Return’ information below.
- For a standard return, customers who opted in to Checkout+ will receive a return label at no additional cost.
- Customers who opted out will be required to purchase their return label through our portal.
- If your return is due to a product defect, we will issue a return label at no additional cost to you.
If your order was damaged, lost or stolen and you insured your order with Checkout+ Package Protection, you will need to select the start a claim option in our customer portal.
REQUESTING AN EXCHANGE
To request an exchange, please use our return customer portal and select the new item you'd like. Your exchange item will be shipped to you once we receive your original item.
CLAIM DAMAGE/LOST/STOLEN ORDER
If you’ve added our Checkout+ Package Protection to your order and it gets lost, damaged, or stolen, we will help ensure your order is replaced or refunded according to your preference. To initiate this process, please enter our customer portal and select the option to start a claim. For more details, please review the Package Protection page.
PACKAGING & SHIPPING YOUR RETURN
- Once you receive your return shipping label via email, carefully package the item(s) appropriately for shipment. Ensure it’s all in its original condition, including tags, ink cartridges, converters, booklets, accessories, and packaging included; otherwise, we will be unable to accept your return and issue a refund.
- Do not write on or damage the actual product packaging (pen tubes, etc) in any way.
- If possible, we welcome you to re-package it in the same packaging it was delivered in.
- If you are returning an order that includes a free gift received as part of a promotional offer, you are required to return the free gift as well. Failure to return the free gift may result in being charged the retail value or cost of that particular product. For more information, please review our Gift with Purchase Return Policy.
- Once received by our Returns Department, Retro51 accepts full responsibility for all merchandise. We are not responsible for loss or theft before the merchandise arrives at our facility.
Purchases made directly on retro51.com should be returned directly to Retro51. Direct purchases from retro51.com cannot be returned to any of the authorized dealer/retailer online stores or physical store locations. Just the same, if a purchase is made directly with any authorized dealer online stores or physical store locations, you should refer to their return policies. — An exception would apply if the return is considered warranty service under the limited one-year warranty. Retro51 does not price match with pricing from dealers or retailers.
RETURNING UNDER WARRANTY
If you are returning a product due to a manufacturing defect and your 10-day return window has expired, your product may still be eligible for warranty service. Retro51 offers a Limited One-Year Warranty on all Retro51 writing instruments to the original consumer. This is a period of one year from the date of purchase, with the purchased unit free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
A product returned under warranty should not be returned to the original retailer from whom it was purchased. Instead, Retro51 will handle warranty claims directly. For more details and steps on how to request warranty service under the one-year warranty, please review our Warranty Policy.
PROCESSING YOUR RETURN/REFUND
Once we receive your returned items, we will inspect and process the items. Returns are processed within 3-5 business days* of receiving them.
You will receive confirmation via email when your refund has been processed. Please allow up to 5 business days* (or more) for a refund to apply to your bank account. The time required to process your refund may vary based on the payment method used and/or your banking institution.
